SIXTY-SIX NIKKI SIXX’S!

On November 30, 2008, in Badgirls Thinks, by admin

During the time Nikki was out on the road with Crue Fest was about the time I began sketching these portraits of Nikki. It was a good way to pass some time in between shooting scenes for the show, and still be creative, while missing him.

I had no “real” plan for these sketches, until Nikki and I started talkin’ about the latest project he had been working on with the folks down at the Covenant House (Charity organization that helps runaway teens).

So I made some time to get my ass down there and check out what the facility is all about, and it blew my mind! The amount of time, energy and love that is put into these homeless kids was so uplifting.

After meeting a few of the kids briefly, and checking out the music room (which is under much construction), and talking to the head of the orgnaization, I KNEW I wanted to do something!

The 66 pieces will be up for public viewing at Carmichael Gallery right next door to the shop (High Voltage Tattoo), and will also have prints of each of them available for sale – with 100% of the proceeds goin’ to “Running Wild in The Night” – (the program Nikki founded at Covenant House). The prints will be numbered, 8×10 for $20.

There are sketches of Nikki from when he was a little boy, to his mug shot, to silly to serious portraits.. all fun!

Hope you guys can join Nikki and I and enjoy these drawings – everyone is invited!

With Love,
Kat Von D

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving! I WAS fortunate enough to spend it with the fam out in Yucaipa, (sounds far, because it IS far!).

My brother and his girlfriend, and my best friend, Rhian AND I drove out to my Dad’s..
ate dinner..
hung out..
showed my Dad the first print of my book!…

And the best part of it all, was when both my Dad and Grandma played music for all of us… First the accordion (which by the way, i am gonna start taking accordion lessons), and then onto the trumpet and piano…

I took a few flicks…
It felt like ol’ times when I was a kid..

Man! My family rules, and for that I am the most thankful for..

XOXO,
Kat Von D
